Securevue's Camera Housing Helps Thwart False Alarms in Video Analytics Applications of Outdoor Perimeter Security Surveillance

NEW YORK, Oct. 19 - An important new application for SecureVue's ultra heavy-duty camera housing, SecureCam® - helping prevent video surveillance false alarms - has emerged as the use of video analytics (intelligent video analysis) for outdoor perimeter security rapidly proliferates. The housing, which prevents the slightest wind-induced camera movements, is effective for this application because it was designed and engineered to withstand physical attacks on cameras at untended and remote crime and vandalism prone sites, terrorist targets, and severe-weather exposed locations.

Even the smallest wind-gust caused motion of the camera itself simulates the movement of a distant object within the field of view, resulting in a "nuisance" or false alarm. As a security expert has observed, "Analytical video surveillance can shift costs from personal peering at monitors to pursuing phantom alarms."

Because surveillance camera "aim" is vital, the housing ensures the camera's preset orientation to its target area with a unique tamper-resistant bracket mount that aligns precisely on horizontal and vertical axes. It locks into place with a proprietary hex wrench so that its positioning cannot be altered by manual force - tested to 500 lbs. This assures invulnerability to even the slightest movement from hurricane force winds. Two U.S. patents protect the anti-tilt features - as a proven theft-proof and tamperproof housing. It is listed by UL; and also has the highest enclosure rating (IP-68) for water and dust exclusion.

SecureVue is so confident of its invulnerability that it offers an unprecedented lifetime guarantee against breakage, deformation, tilting, wind-movement and corrosion of the housing and even damage or theft of the protected camera inside.

The camera enclosure compartment is cylindrical and rotatable - also a patented feature - so the image can be maintained in an upright position when the housing is mounted upside-down on a ceiling or vertically on a wall or post. The entire housing is constructed of heavy gauge type 304 stainless steel, and the window is three-quarter inch gauge ballistic three-ply polycarbonate, capable of stopping 9-mm or 38-caliber bullets.

The bracket is shared with another SecureVue product, its stainless steel adjustable security mirrors of which thousands are installed in New York subway stations - one of the toughest crucibles in the world - as SecureVue is a long-time specified supplier to the N.Y.C. Transit Authority.

SecureCam is manufactured by SecureVue Inc., New York, NY; 212-752-5960; www.securevue.net.
