Sensors-Demeter Components Group Delivers Industry's First High Resolution Room Temperature InGaAs Camera

Princeton, NJ, April 3, 2002 - Sensors-Demeter Components Group announces a room temperature camera that employs a 640x480 Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) focal plane array (FPA). This high-resolution short-wave infrared (SWIR) scientific imaging system operates at room temperature and is used for applications such as laser profiling, emission microscopy and imaging spectroscopy.

"Once again, Sensors-Demeter Components Group is setting the standard for InGaAs research, development and manufacturing," remarks Bill Woodrow, Director of Sales and Marketing, Sensors-Demeter Components Group. "We are the first and only manufacturer of commercial InGaAs to offer a chip this large."

According to Dr. Martin Ettenberg, Imaging Product Manager and Research Scientist at Sensors-Demeter Components Group, "The camera uses a 640x480 InGaAs chip, the largest that our industry has ever commercially produced. It provides greater resolution, allowing users to see objects with greater detail than ever before."

The InGaAs room temperature camera is a high resolution (640x480 on a 27 micrometer pitch) short-wave infrared imaging system (0.9 micrometer to 1.7 micrometer). The 14 bit digital output enhances the camera's dynamic range and can easily be integrated with National Instruments' LabVIEW(TM) software, a powerful graphical development environment. The camera features a snapshot mode exposure with multiple computer controlled integration times. The camera's small size (4" x 4" x 6") makes it easy to integrate into a wide variety of measurements.

Sensors-Demeter Components Group offers InGaAs Linear and Area Photodiode Arrays, APD & PIN Receivers, Multi-Channel Power Monitors, NIR Imaging Cameras, DFB and FP Lasers, Active Bi-Di's, and Laser Combiners. All of these components will be leveraged to build new optical subsystems incorporating innovations arising from the integration of InGaAs and laser technologies in areas such as CWDM, DWDM, SONET/SDH, MANs, Transceivers, Transponders, Add/Drop Multiplexers, MEMS Switch Controls, EDFA Gain Monitoring, as well as Laser Beam Profiling, Free Space Communications, Semiconductor Inspection, LADAR, LIDAR and Spectroscopy. As one of the leading suppliers to the merchant market, Sensors-Demeter will enable transponder manufacturers to radically improve transceiver designs by incorporating its smaller, highly sensitive, reliable, high-speed components.

About Sensors-Demeter Components Group: Sensors Unlimited Inc., an innovative manufacturer of Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) optical components, and Demeter Technologies, a manufacturer of advanced laser diodes and optical modules, have combined their sales and marketing efforts to create Sensors-Demeter Components Group. As a division of Finisar Corporation, (Nasdaq: FNSR), this group will specialize in products that advance the performance of high-speed fiber-optic communications through a broad array of products.
