SICK Provides Fine Positioning of Mobile Vehicles with DMP3 Sensor

SICK (www.sickusa.com), one of the world's leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, and automatic identification products for factory and logistics automation, today announced the launch of its DMP3 Position Finder. The DMP3 is ideal for precisely aligning Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and other automated vehicles so products can be loaded and unloaded from steel racks. This easy-to-use, camera-based sensor is easy to set up and install and includes a simple teach button for storing up to two teachable locations.

The DMP3, which features a compact metal housing and flexible mounting options, accurately positions moving vehicles such as ASRS cranes, overhead conveyors and AGVs. By using a simple teach button command, the DMP3 can store pick-up and drop-off locations for faster system turnover. Plus, the DMP3 maintains positional accuracy even when load weights, temperature changes and skew due to damaged racks cause the original drop-off and pick-up locations to shift.
