Exact Flow Announces Flow Gator Calibrator with Extended Range Dual Manifold Capability

Portable flow transfer standard can be used for manifold control, greatly extending the calibration flow range

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., February 25, 2009 - Exact Flow, a supplier of precision flow measurement instrumentation for the world's most demanding applications, has introduced its Flow Gator calibrator with an extended range dual manifold capability. Utilizing a two-meter manifold control system, this portable, automated flow transfer standard operates in single viscosity fluids from 0.1 to 310 GPM (over 3000:1). Calibrations in multiple viscosities can be achieved from 0.35 to 310 GPM (886:1 turndown).

Instead of removing flowmeters from service for recalibration, the Flow Gator flow transfer standard allows users to "bring the calibrator to the flowmeter." This affordable, documenting field flow calibrator is intended for in-line calibration and validation of meters using the actual process liquid. It is compatible with any meter with an electronic output or visual indicator.

Rugged, lightweight and compact, the Flow Gator incorporates hand-held electronics, thus eliminating the need to carry a laptop computer into the field. Two Exact dual-rotor turbine flowmeters, which provide exceptional repeatability of +/-0.02%, enable the Flow Transfer Standard system uncertainty to be <+/-0.25% of reading.

The Flow Gator automatically selects the appropriate master meter, based on the current flow rate. Flow conditioners are built into the manifold, as well as the temperature sensor. The Flow Gator calibrator reads signals from the master meters, the flowmeter under test and a fluid temperature sensor. The embedded flow computers process these signals to enable viscosity compensation, linearization and processing of the UUT output.

The Flow Gator system, with its intuitive, menu-driven calibration software, has become the standard for the U.S. Navy, Marines and Air Force. This software enables end users to create calibration data files, which can be up loaded to a PC for storing historical calibration data. Users can download reports showing the calibration data points for the meter under test and compare that information with the output from the meter's previous calibrations. The Flow Gator can also generate printable calibration data sheets in volumetric or mass units, which can be stored for future reference. This capability enhances calibration management programs by providing a record of traceability to recognized calibration standards.
