igus® Offers Fully Harnessed Energy Chain Systems®

ReadyChain® saves time and money and enhances production capacity for numerous industries

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (July 15, 2002): In order to meet the demands of ever-increasingly complicated installations of large cable carrier systems, igus® inc. introduces ReadyChain®, a pre-assembled Energy Chain System® made up of cable carrier, cables, connectors, and other components customized for a variety of industrial applications. All moving components of this fully
harnessed Energy Chain System® come from the igus product range and are supplied and assembled from stock for maximum customer convenience.

ReadyChain® is particularly attractive for manufacturers who produce products in a series or single-item production, are looking to reduce storage and purchasing costs, and achieve quicker turn-around times. "An Energy Chain System® is comprised of several different components of which the responsibility for assembly lies with a mechanical or electrical engineering
department," explains Joe Ciringione, business unit manager for igus' Energy Chain Systems. "The Energy Chain itself should be installed by mechanics and the cables/hoses by electricians or hydraulic fitters. This is usually the case when assembling high-volume machinery in a structured production environment. However, when assembling and installing large systems or machinery at the user's or customer's site, it can become complicated. Sometimes, it can reach such a large scale that the length can exceed 300 ft with weights topping a few thousand pounds," he states.

With igus' ReadyChain®, assembly and harnessing become streamlined in many ways. "Among the advantages are one part number, one order, and one complete shipment with one delivery period," adds Mr. Ciringione. "Of course, reduced storage costs are now possible as well, and we offer a complete system guarantee."

As a system supplier of all components involved, igus can supervise the details right up to the test run. Only the connection to the power supply and overall trial runs remain the customer's responsibility. Examples of applications where igus has direct experience include storage technology, textile machinery, robotics, tube-bending machines, construction equipment, assembly line, and gantry cranes. "Virtually every industry we sell to can use the ReadyChain® service from igus," Mr. Ciringione notes.

Basic harnessing or harnessing with connectors services are available with ReadyChain® services. With accessories, ReadyChain® can be made available in 2-8 days.
