GMP's New Hydraulically Limited Cable Puller Offers Adjustable Pull And Speed


TREVOSE PA, October 1, 2001 -- General Machine Products Co., Inc. (GMP) has introduced a Hydraulically Limited Cable Puller that outperforms customary slip-clutch designs by delivering adjustable pull and speed, self-contained pulling power, fast setup and highproduction.

Designed for 25-inch (63.5 cm), 32-inch (81 cm) and 40-inch (101 cm) capstans, the Hydraulically Limited Cable Puller eliminates the need for multiple, dedicated-size capstans because it can be adjusted - to a maximum pull of 1000 lb. (453 kg) and speeds to 600 ft/min at 15 gpm.

Standard features include a foot control with pressure gauge for comfortable operation of the puller assembly and to fine-tune, or "feather," the control; a pressure adjustment knob to control the pulling tension; and a maximum flow control knob that limits oil flow to the motor to reduce pulling speed for slower, controlled pulls. Quick disconnects provide for easy and quick connection to the hydraulic power source input (2500 psi, 15 gpm required). The Bell standard 2-7/16 in. (62 mm) bayonet shaft connects to drive capstans or other accessories.

The Hydraulically Limited Cable Puller is lightweight, portable and easy to handle. It can be mounted on anything from a standard pickup truck to a large truck with a winch. Two versatile setup options are available - a self-support frame or a vehicle receiver mounting, both providing strength, stability and flexibility. The hydraulic motor and gearbox, built to provide the required pulling even for the most demanding pulls, are mounted on a structural steel stand that attaches to either setup option and is finished in a bright yellow material that improves visibility and resists corrosion.
