Rol-E-Chain Cable Carriers Decrease Friction and Provide a Smooth Ride for Long Travel Applications
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - September 27, 2004 - Rol-E-Chain Energy Chain® cable carriers from igus® Inc. demonstrate an innovative and breakthrough design based on one of the simplest mechanical elements-the wheel. Rol-E-Chain is comprised of rollers integrated into the side links of a cable carrier which reduces friction dramatically, therefore much longer, heavier and faster applications are possible.
Energy Chains are plastic cable carriers which house and protect moving cables and hoses on automated machinery. If the machine moves far enough, the upper portion of the Energy Chain will glide on the lower portion. As the length of travel, load and speed increase, so does the amount of friction, creating premature wear and load problems for the cable carrier. With Rol-E-Chain friction is decreased and travels up to 2,600 feet are easily achieved.
Rol-E-Chain fully integrates with the igus Energy Chain cable carrier system and can be retrofitted in the filed. It is ideal for cranes, material handling devices, plasma cutters and high-speed transfer systems.
