EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - December 17, 2003 - System E4/100 Energy Chains® from igus® Inc. are the strong silent type. Energy Chain cable carriers guide and protect moving cables and hoses on automated machinery. Made from high-tensile and compressive strength engineered plastics, the System E4/100 is one of the most rugged Energy Chain Systems® from igus. It can support at least 750 pounds of weight and easily withstands the most demanding applications. It also possesses extreme noise-reduction capabilities.
System E4/100 Energy Chains can assume high fill weights and long travels. It performs well at high speeds and high accelerations. It's large, strong and provides superb support for all types of outdoor and rigorous applications.
To reduce excess noise emitted during the typical bend, flex and roll movements of the links as the Energy Chain proceeds through its travel, igus developed a brake system between the links. Noise levels are reduced by 50 percent. This ingenious system lessens the contact angle of the links but has no impact on the speed or performance of the carrier. Beveled edges on the glide surface further dampen travel noise and the smooth side plate design increases the carrier's resistance to contaminants.
