Automotive Series IDB/1394 Cable Assemblies and Sockets (Copper-based System)

Midlothian, Va. (September 30, 2002) Lumberg, Inc, announces the introduction of a new range of Consumer Convenience Port connectors, IDB IEEE1394 (Intelligent Data Bus). The new cable assemblies and corresponding PCB-mount receptacles are in full compliance with, and meet IDB/IEEE 1394 standards and specifications. The products are designed for many uses, but are ideally suited for applications in automotive telematics, navigation and global positioning systems, etc.

Four different versions of cable assemblies are available in lengths of up to 10 meters: bilingual plug to bilingual plug, bilingual plug to beta plug, bilingual plug to IEEE 1394 AV (Audio Video) plug, and bilingual to IEEE 1394-95 plug. Cable assemblies are hot-pluggable and can be used for daisy chain applications. A positive locking feature with audible click provides integrity and reliability. This copper-based interconnect system can support transmission speeds of up to 1,600Mbits/sec. Custom configurations are also available.

The right angle PCB-mount socket is bilingual and is in full compliance with IDB/IEEE 1394 specifications and feature SMT contacts as well as thru hole PCB hold-down features as part of the outer shell. The socket is fully shielded and is designed to withstand 7,500 mating cycles.

In compliance with IDB/1394 specifications Lumberg, Inc. is offering a molded support structure for the socket. This "body core" can be mounted in front of the socket to help ensure proper alignment of the interconnect system.
