Bytemobile's Unison Solution Delivers Multiple Optimization Services On Single System Platform for Wireless Data Networks

First to Market with Integrated Content Filtering, Including Dynamic Rating of Websites

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 23 // -- Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in optimization solutions for mobile data networks, today announced the immediate availability of its Unison(TM) performance and policy optimization services on a single platform, the Bytemobile(R) 2830 system. For the first time, the Unison solution consolidates high performance and content filtering with dynamic rating of websites, and supports the integration of additional optimization services on a multi-service platform. This consolidation enables operators to deploy new data applications without increasing the complexity or compromising the performance of their wireless networks.

"Unison optimization services on the Bytemobile 2830 platform offer a comprehensive solution to the historical challenge of adding boxes to the network in order to deliver new data services," said David Nowicki, vice president of Marketing and Product Management at Bytemobile. "Mobile network operators can now simply add blades to a single integrated platform for new service applications. Network capacity and performance are optimized through the containment of latency as new data services are added, and the Unison solution ensures full interoperability among all services."

Bytemobile launched the Unison solution -- an integrated optimization services architecture designed to simplify, unify and accelerate mobile data networks -- in September 2005. The first-time availability of consolidated Unison services on a single platform represents the next step in Bytemobile's evolution of performance and policy optimization, providing operators with flexibility and scalability to drive growth in average revenue per user (ARPU) while expanding their subscriber base.

Unison Policy Optimization: ACCESS Mobile Content Filtering with Dynamic Rating

Bytemobile also announced today an important new feature for its ACCESS Mobile(TM) Content Filtering service, which provides enhanced screening capabilities for operators to use in blocking inappropriate content and unsolicited communications. The ACCESS Mobile product checks website requests against a content categorization database and authorizes access only for subscribers to the requested website. This process supports the implementation of parental controls on laptop and handset access by children under 18. The new feature, called dynamic rating, supplements the checking of website requests against a database with dynamic analysis and categorization, enabling operators to keep up with newly discovered or unrated websites. Bytemobile's ACCESS Mobile Content Filtering service thereby offers operators a choice of solutions to promote child safety.

"Content filtering is an optimization service with far-reaching implications for the protection of children from access to objectionable content," Nowicki added. "The dynamic rating feature is especially critical as full-HTML web browsing moves to mobile handsets, which are prevalent in millions of households and therefore readily available to children. With the ongoing proliferation of new websites, operators with content filtering services need to maintain the accuracy and timeliness of their rating resources."

In addition to content filtering, Unison policy optimization services include content charging for diversified service billing and WAP 2 gateway.

Unison Performance Optimization: OSN Monaco Edition

Unison performance optimization services consist of the Optimization Services Node (OSN) Monaco(TM) Edition for laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), Smartphones, and feature phones. To increase flexibility for operators, Bytemobile now offers the OSN Monaco Edition on the IBM BladeCenter, in addition to Sun Microsystems platforms and the new Bytemobile 2830 system. Performance optimization features of the OSN Monaco Edition include protocol acceleration, data reduction and dynamic content caching.

Bytemobile announced the launch of OSN Release 3.1 -- with a 10x capacity improvement from the previous release, a corresponding price/performance advantage, and enhanced scalability -- on May 24, 2006.

Bytemobile's market-leading OSN is currently installed in the wireless networks of nearly 70 mobile operators worldwide, serving an aggregate of nearly one billion subscribers in more than 30 countries. In addition to accelerating performance, the OSN expands effective network capacity by reducing data volumes transferred per transaction. The OSN Monaco Edition service is available in both server-based and client-server configurations.
