BWIR Introduces SolidWorks Plastics to St. Louis

ST. LOUIS—Barry-Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR) hosted a SolidWorks user group conference on Sept. 18, 2012. BWIR is the first organization in the nation to introduce Solidworks Plastics in the User Group, the newest SolidWorks software. 30 individuals from various St. Louis-based companies attended the conference. The conference objective was to cover the latest release of new technology within SolidWorks and third party products. BWIR invited two subject matter experts from SolidWorks Corporation who are well known in the CAD Industry.

This session was notable for the St. Louis SolidWorks user community because it included two important topics: it was the first in the nation to introduce the capabilities of the SolidWorks Plastics product in a presentation called “All about Plastics – An Introduction to SolidWorks Plastics” and it also gave insight into what users should expect from SolidWorks in 2013 in “An Outlook on SolidWorks 2013”.

“All about Plastics – An Introduction to SolidWorks Plastics”

Earlier this year, SolidWorks introduced SolidWorks Plastics into its product portfolio. For companies that design plastic parts or injection molds, SolidWorks Plastics software helps users predict and avoid manufacturing defects during the initial stages of part and mold design, eliminating costly mold rework, improving part quality and decreasing time to market. SolidWorks Plastics was demonstrated by Matt Derov, territory technical manager for SolidWorks simulation products in the central US region. Having worked for DS SolidWorks for more than 4 years and in the Simulation Training department authoring training manuals, Matt has extensive training to support the Plastics demonstration.

“An Outlook on SolidWorks 2013”

This presentation included information on new products like SolidWorks Electrical and SolidWorks Plastics, enhancement features of SolidWorks 2013 and its interoperability with SolidWorks 2012. Participants were very excited to know the new features of SolidWorks 2013. The presentation was given by Jeremy Stadtmueller, global account technical manager at DS SolidWorks Corporation. Jeremy has been in the CAD industry for more than 15 years including the last eight years with SolidWorks Corporation working with large global customers to help them address their needs in a complex engineering environment.
