Universal Electric Corporation Introduces B400 Amp System

Newest addition to Starline Track Busway family offers greater ampere capacity CANONSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2007) - Universal Electric Corp. has recently introduced the B400 Amp Series as the newest member of its Starline Track Busway System. The B400 Series provides all the benefits of Starline Track Busway - a modular, overhead, build-as-you-need high density electrical distribution system - in higher load requirements for industrial and high tech applications. "Data centers, labs and other mission critical facilities continue to experience increased demand for power," said Joel Ross, Universal Electric Corp. president. "We developed the B400 Series to extend our maximum busway size from 225 to 400 amps, as a response to this growing need, supplying more power along with the '9's' of reliability." The B400 Series makes it possible to supply more power to larger machine tools, welders, soldering equipment, heaters and chillers. Installed above the computer cabinets, the B400 Series can eliminate the need for costly raised floors, or make the air handling for cooling systems much more effective by eliminating under-floor cable whips. Eliminating the distribution panels associated with traditional systems, the B400 Series also offers the continuous plug-in "track" concept, which allows for higher densities of plugs than conventional bus duct systems and provides universal hanger slots versus fixed location hangers. Its plug orientation allows for maximum access versus side mount systems. Users of the B400 Series are able to connect and disconnect plugs while the busway is energized and benefit from the convenience of pre-made drop cord units, which results in lower installation costs. The B400 Series provides 400 amps and 100 percent continuous duty power. It has a 22,000 amp short circuit rating and 600 volts AC and DC. It weighs 9.5 pounds per foot and has a cross section dimension of 5.7" by 5.05". Available in any length up to 10 feet, the B400 Series also includes optional isolated ground and oversize neutral. Custom configurations are available. About Starline Track Busway The Starline Track Busway has revolutionized electrical power distribution in commercial, mission critical, industrial, institutional and retail applications. An alternative to conduit and wire, this system provides the ability to expand, reconfigure and/or relocate operations at any time and bring power to new workspace without shutting down the main power source. It installs rapidly, and busway sections and plug-in units can be added in a matter of minutes. Since in-house personnel can easily add, remove or relocate plug-in units, installation costs are greatly reduced. The Starline system is 100 percent reusable when remodeling a facility or moving to a new location. About Universal Electric Corporation Universal Electric Corporation has been a leader in power distribution since its founding in 1924 by Donald Ross. Today, the third generation of the Ross family continues the tradition of innovation paving the way for safer and more convenient electrical power distribution systems worldwide.
