Beckhoff Introduces BK7150 CC-Link Compact I/O Bus Coupler



MINNEAPOLIS, March 2, 2006 - The new, compact BK7150 Bus Couplers from Beckhoff Automation cost-effectively connect the CC-Link network to the entire Beckhoff I/O system. CC-Link is an open fieldbus system with baud rates up to 10 Mbaud that can be selected via a switch, so that transfer speeds can be adapted to unique process requirements.

In addition to CC-Link, additional Beckhoff Bus Coupler solutions are fully compatible with DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet TCP/IP, SERCOS, ControlNet, CANopen, Lightbus and several others. When installed, one CC-Link I/O node consists of a Bus Coupler, up to 64 I/O terminals and one Bus End Terminal. Beckhoff's K-bus extension technology allows for the connection multiple nodes totaling up to 255 I/O Bus Terminals that are spatially distributed to one Bus Coupler.

The BK7150 recognizes connected I/O terminals and automatically generates the configuration and affiliations of all inputs and outputs to the bytes of the system's process image. During this process, inputs and outputs are clearly separated by the Bus Coupler.

Complex signal processing for analog I /Os, position measurement

Analog and multi-functional Bus Terminals can be adapted to each specific application using Beckhoff KS2000 I/O configuration software. Depending on the type, analog Bus Terminal registers contain temperature ranges, gain values and linearization characteristics. Using the KS2000 software, required parameters can be set on a PC. The Bus Terminals permanently store settings internally in a fail-safe manner.

Optionally, Beckhoff Bus Terminals can also be controlled and configured by the higher level control system. Via function blocks (FBs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or Industrial PCs (IPCs), can configure the custom register settings to the I/O during the start up phase. Further adjustments are not necessary in the event of the replacement of a Beckhoff I/O Bus Terminal. Like all Beckhoff Bus Couplers, the BK7150 controls I/O based on the master PLC or IPC master image. Configuration of the I/O image is automatically generated after applying power to the Bus Coupler.
