Parvus' MIL-STD-1553 Bus Controllers Now Include Windows® Software Drivers for Military PC/104 Computer Applications

Parvus' single- and dual-channel PC/104 1553 bus interfaces now support Windows® and include source code for recompiling drivers under real time operating systems

SALT LAKE CITY - April 14, 2004 - Parvus® Corporation today announced that its two PC/104 1553 boards now include device driver support for Windows® 9x/2000/NT/XP and DOS® 6.2, as well as source code for C and Visual C, which can be ported to Linux®, VxWorks®, QNX® or other real-time operating systems (RTOS). A Windows-based test utility is also included.

The new software support package is available for both Parvus' single- and dual-channel MIL-STD-1553 communication interfaces, which are designed for a wide array of military electronics applications utilizing MIL-STD-1553B multiplexed serial databus designs. Parvus' SpacePC® Single Board Computers (SBC) or other PC/104 form factor processors can be used with these dual-redundant 1553 communication protocol cards to access and configure the 1553 databus for all three modes of 1553 operation: Remote Terminal (RT) mode, Bus Control (BC) mode, or Monitor Terminal (MT).

Satisfying all requirements of MIL-STD-1553B Notice II, these PC/104 modules are built around the Aeroflex UTMC's SµMMIT(TM) 1553 processor, which offers automatic message handling, message status, general status polling and interrupt capability. This register-based interface architecture provides four/eight 16-bit register locations for complete access to interface functions through PC/104 I/O space.

APPLICATIONS
Both 1553 interface cards are extended-temperature rated (-40ºC to +85ºC) and specifically designed for Army, Navy, Air Force, and space agency applications including airplanes, tanks, missiles, satellites, and helicopters to process data for navigation and altitude, weapon status indications, target tracks and electronic warfare lines.

PRICING
Pricing starts at $1,680/each in volume orders of 100+ units for the single-channel version, which includes an NE2000-Plus compliant Ethernet controller. The dual-channel model is priced at $3,080/each in 100-unit volume.
