Beating The (55-Gallon) Drum Blues
Do your 55-gallon oil drums have you over a barrel? Tote-A-Lube bulk liquid dispensing systems can turn the messiest shop into an organized and safe work area. Tote-A-Lube systems replace 55-gallon drums with a clean, stackable and systemized storage and dispensing system.
Made of high-density polyethylene plastic, Tote-A-Lube's unique corrugated V-groove sidewalls are designed for extra strength. Each of the 70 and 120-gallon tanks can hold 20,000 pounds of pressure exerted on the top.
"Why didn't somebody invent this 50 years ago?" asked an oil distributor at a Las Vegas petroleum convention.
"One of the most effective aspects of Tote-A-Lube is that it can be stacked," explained Tony Schmitt, inventor of the Tote-A-Lube system. "You can't stack three 55-gallon drums of oil. But you can with Tote-A-Lube."
Oil distributors, jobbers and implement dealers promote the Tote-A-Lube systems to industries that use 55-gallon drums. The transparent plastic tanks allow you to see the level of oil at all times, eliminating product run-outs and downtime. No guessing on oil levels.
Choosing between gravity dispensing and air pump mitigates the common 55-gallon drum dilemma of unused oil at the bottom of the barrel. Two guys lifting a drum and pouring out the remnants-half of it spilling on the floor-is an event of the past. "Companies can lose a tremendous amount of money in bottom-of-the-barrel oil," explained Schmitt.
"Tote-A-Lube ends that problem. It is an operational solution to a strategic business problem." All storage tanks have unique top-outer grooves that interlock with the bottom inner grooves to secure tanks in place when stacked. A unique cutout area allows the lower tanks of a stacked system to be filled.
