Redesigned Packaging Adhesives Bulk Feeder Saves Time and Improves Uptime and Safety

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 26, 2005 - National Adhesives will be introducing at PackExpo, in Booth C4228, a new version of its 3D AutoFill(TM) bulk feeder that automatically transfers hot melt adhesive from any shipping or storage container to a melt tank. Because this vacuum feeder runs continuously, packaging line operators need not schedule frequent visits to the melt unit to scoop slats from a container to the hot melt tank. Less scooping means plant personnel can focus on other tasks.

Another contribution the unit makes to packaging line uptime is the elimination of char-producing contaminants that can clog nozzles and hoses. Because the hot melt tank lid does not have to be opened for filling, dust and other debris, which can burn and cause char, do not enter the melter. Therefore, less maintenance and downtime are incurred.

The 3D Autofill Model MK2 feeder also improves plant safety because packaging line operators are no longer exposed to hot, molten adhesive in the melter tank.

The redesigned unit is now more compact - nearly half the size of its predecessor - so it is less obtrusive. Construction is primarily of stainless steel for greater durability and less housekeeping. Also, the control box has been modified for simpler operation.

The 3D Auto Fill Model MK-2 automatically vacuum transfers hot melt adhesive via a vibrating wand and hose from any shipping or storage container directly to a melt unit. The unit includes a level sensor with 95-dB alarm to notify plant personnel when they need to replenish the hot melt supply. Installation is simple, according to the manufacturer, and does not require any alterations. The existing melt pot cover is removed, and the MK-2 is installed with screws using the existing holes for the cover.

The 3D unit runs quietly with 60 pounds per square inch compressed air through a 3/8-inch fitting. The electrical supply requirement is 110-240 volt AC one-phase 50/60 Hz 0.4 amp. This bulk feeder is compatible with National's low-temperature hot melt adhesives.
