Buckeye Shapeform's DII Standard Enclosure Grows in Popularity

From Lung Cancer Treatments to Rock Concerts, Clients Ask for the DII Case

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Buckeye Shapeform is proud to announce the expanding use of its DII standard enclosure. Customized variations of the DII case were recently used to help build innovative products in the medical and audio-visual industries.

The DII case is a rugged electronics enclosure that permits installation of heavy components. It features construction from sturdy aluminum extrusion, contains standard blue or black vinyl-clad top and bottom panels, clear anodized side panels with blue or black vinyl accent stripes, 1/8" thick, clear anodized front and rear panels and bench-top and rack-mount capabilities. The enclosure is durable enough to be used in a variety of harsh work environments.

Computerized Imaging Reference Systems, Inc. (CIRS) and BBG, for example, enlisted Buckeye Shapeform's help to build the Dynamic Thorax Phantom, a device designed to simulate the human body's movement during lung cancer radiation treatment to help doctors target radiation. The device's control unit needed a durable enclosure to house all of its components, and a standard off-the-shelf enclosure would not do. Buckeye Shapeform was able to modify their DII, making it deeper and anodizing and punching specific holes into the enclosure. Conducting all these processes under one roof expedited production and created a high-quality, professional product. In the audio-visual industry, Buckeye Shapeform modified the DII case for Channel D Solution's DBSR antenna distribution system. The wireless DBSR system helps backstage crew members at concerts and shows to coordinate and talk to each other without sound interference. Buckeye Shapeform customized the DII case by punching precisely placed holes and adding custom screen printing to house all DBSR components. The system is now used for Cirque du Soliel, Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour, Blue Man Group Orlando, The Academy Awards and more.

"Because our team communicated directly and openly with the client, together we were able to provide designs, prototypes and finished cases quickly, accurately, and attractively," said Buckeye Shapeform design engineer Wilbur Meyer.
"We are proud our enclosure products serve important clients across various industries. From lung cancer treatments to rock concerts, the DII is durable and versatile enough to serve in these harsh environments and make a lasting difference in many lives," said Ken Tumblison, Buckeye Shapeform president.
