MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 3 / -- Today, Mercury Interactive Corporation , the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO) software, unveiled a major new version of Mercury Quality Center(TM), a strategic part of Mercury BTO Enterprise(TM). Mercury BTO Enterprise is the industry's first integrated suite of BTO offerings designed to help customers optimize the business outcomes of IT. Mercury Quality Center is Mercury's optimization center that allows customers to automate software quality management and functional testing across a wide range of application environments, gain visibility into quality assurance (QA) projects, and align the priorities of quality assurance professionals with business requirements.

The new Mercury Quality Center 9.0 addresses strategic quality issues, helping customers to:

-- Automate the functional testing of service-based applications, including service oriented architectures (SOA) and Web Services with new capabilities in Mercury QuickTest Professional(TM) to identify and test the services to make sure they are functioning properly;

-- Enable collaboration between developers and quality assurance professionals on software-defect and quality initiatives through a new integration into Microsoft(R) Visual Studio(R) Team System; and

-- Manage requirements through new capabilities in Mercury TestDirector that allow business analysts and subject matter experts to easily track business requirements and the impact of quality on the needs of the business.

"The need to drive and control the software quality process has never been higher, given global competitive pressures, complex sourcing and emerging technologies (such as SOA), regulatory compliance and the inherent business risks and dependencies associated with mission-critical applications," said Melinda Ballou, program director for Application Life Cycle Management at IDC, a global advisory services and market intelligence provider. "We see companies investing in quality platforms that help ensure their mission-critical applications deliver the right business results and improve overall quality management in these challenging environments."

"Organizations are standardizing on Mercury Quality Center for strategic quality initiatives to optimize the application delivery process and ensure application quality and performance," said Rajesh Radhakrishnan, vice president of application delivery products at Mercury. "The new version of Mercury Quality Center will help customers mitigate the time, costs and risks inherent in deploying increasingly complex technologies and managing globally distributed testing organizations."

Mercury Quality Center 9.0 is available today and is delivered as an in-house deployment or through Mercury Managed Services. For more information, please visit www.mercury.com/us/products/quality-center.
