New High Power Density Brushless PM Motor with Wide Speed Range

Fisher Electric Technology of St. Petersburg, FL, announces the new M3-2.5AF brushless PM motor that develops 11.2 kilowatts (15.0 horsepower) continuously and 12 ft-lbs torque in a 15 pound package. The 10 pole rotor configuration utilizes Samarium Cobalt rare earth magnets that furnish both high magnetic energy and high temperature stability.

The motor's speed range is 0 to 11,000 rpm with mechanical over speed capability to 18,000 rpm. This high power density brushless PM motor is forced air cooled. Unit outside diameter (OD) is 5.00 inches by 8.3 inches long.

The model BDN100A40AC electronic controller is comprised of a 3 phase brushless servo amplifier with built in rectifier in a 10.6 inch by 9.2 inch by 6.3 inch package size. Controller weight is 16 pounds. The FET motor-controller package combined power efficiency is greater than 90% at higher speeds. A 0-10 volt analog input or an external potentiometer is used to control motor shaft speed set points.
