New Powerful, Highly Responsive Brushless DC Motor

Servo Magnetics Inc. - Canoga Park, CA; a high performance electric motor manufacturer, introduces a new, extremely responsive compact brushless DC motor that features a high torque to size ratio. The motor is capable of delivering a peak of 10 oz-in with 3.6 amps at 7,000 rpm in its 0.75" O.D. X 3.4" L., stainless steel housing. Its mechanical time constant is 1.43 milliseconds, and its electrical time constant is 0.15 milliseconds making it ideal for systems that require quick response. Extremely low rotor inertia of 2.8 X 10-5 oz-in.-sec² facilitates rapid acceleration and deceleration. The motor also contains a 96 line, 2-channel in quadrature encoder for exceptional positioning accuracy. Commutation is supported by internal Hall sensors. This motor is designed for critical closed-loop positioning applications including missile fin actuators, X-Y positioning tables, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, as well as other industrial process equipment where space is also a major factor. The motor is pictured with an easily interfaced ribbon-type connector; however, custom mountings as well as other winding configurations are available upon request.
