Pittman® ELCOM SL® Brushless DC Motors Feature Slotless Design For Optimized Performance

PITTMAN® ELCOM SL® brushless DC servo motors feature a slotless stator design offering key performance advantages compared with conventional slotted technology. These motors are ideal for applications including data storage, medical/biotech, semiconductor, automation, commercial aviation, and others requiring high performance and reliability.

Advantages from their slotless stator construction include negligible magnetic cogging to enable extremely smooth, quiet motion; low inductance and high current bandwidth to promote precise control, especially during rapid acceleration in demanding incremental motion applications; a large magnetic air gap minimizing viscous torque losses for efficient operation at high speeds; and excellent winding heat transfer allowing for high thermal efficiency and transient load capacity.

PITTMAN ELCOM SL brushless DC servo motors are available in three frame sizes (Series 3400, 4400, and 5400) with 3-phase slotless stators and 4-pole rotors with neodymium magnets. Speeds up to 8,000 RPM can be achieved (higher speeds are available upon request). Peak torques can range from 13.3 oz-in to 195 oz-in, depending on model.

All motors feature precision-ground hardened stainless steel shafts and rugged construction. Their modular design accommodates customization with components to meet the particular application requirements. Options include cables, shaft-mounted pulleys and gears, ball bearings, multiple windings, electromechanical brakes, and optical encoders, among others.
