New Highly Responsive Brushless DC Motor

Servo Magnetics Inc. - Canoga Park, CA; a high performance electric motor manufacturer, introduces a new, extremely responsive compact brushless DC motor that features a high torque to size ratio. The peak torque rating is 22.4 oz-in from the 2.33" O.D. X 0.635" long motor. Its mechanical time constant is 5.5 milliseconds, and its electrical time constant is 0.86 milliseconds. Typical current consumption is 200 milliamps at 10 volts at a speed of 4,300 RPM. A low rotor inertia of 5.3 X 10-4 oz-in. sec² contributes to its rapid acceleration and deceleration. The motor is shown with an optional, 2-data channel in quadrature, 2048 line encoder with 300 KHz frequency response. This motor is designed for critical applications including X-Y positioning tables, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, as well as other industrial process equipment where space is also a major factor.
