Interroll's New Rollerdrive HTBL Drive Delivers More Power with Less Noise

Wilmington, N.C., January 10, 2005. Interroll Corporation addresses its customers' needs for more power and cost-efficiency in announcing the new RollerDrive and DriveControl High Torque Brushless component (HTBL). Designed as an economical and safe alternative to traditional belt, line shaft, chain and sprocket drive systems, the 24 VDC-powered roller meets the demand for moving heavier loads with improved control capabilities. The new RollerDrive HTBL provides up to a 70 percent increase in torque at costs comparable to lower powered rollers.

"With the RollerDrive HTBL, we've created a safer, quieter replacement to chain and belt driven conveyors, while enhancing and improving performance," said Ken Bobick, Product Manager for the RollerDrive at Interroll. "In fact, noise emissions have been reduced to 45 - 50 dBA when the RollerDrive is mounted in the structural frames, making it the quietest roller in the industry."

The RollerDrive HTBL can move up to 500 pounds consistently, 1000 pounds in testing, with speeds ranging to 256 feet per minute through a series of gear ratios from 12:1 to 64:1.

The RollerDrive is ideal for any material handling application where accumulation or general transport is required, including postal and parcel distribution, warehouse conveying and order picking, distribution centers, packaging, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Available in lengths of 10.00" to 50.00", the RollerDrive tubes are 1.90" in diameter and constructed of 0.065" thick galvanized carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminum.

According to Bobick, the RollerDrive is most effective when used in conjunction with the DriveControl HTBL. Enabling engineers to control the RollerDrive specific to the application, the DriveControl is fully programmable with soft, configurable limits for speed, torque, acceleration, deceleration, and current limiting. This intelligent controller interfaces to either NPN or PNP photo eyes and can be externally controlled via outboard potentiometers or any external analog signal or PLC.

Interroll's four-quadrant controller offers precise acceleration and deceleration control as well as the ability to stop, hold and control motion on inclines, declines and spirals.
