Ernst/Quality Solutions Introduces the New e-Brio Brinell Microscope

Ernst Quality Solutions is introducing the new e-Brio(TM) Brinell Microscope for fast, automatic measurement of Brinell indentations according to ASTM E10 standard to 0.01 mm resolution without being affected by operator influence.

The e-Brio(TM) Brinell scope uses a built-in 752x480 pixel camera and LED illumination combined with Windows 7 software and a tablet or other computer to automatically read Brinell impressions from 2.5 to 5 mm. At the press of a button the scope draws a circle around the impression, as viewed on the computer screen. A second click confirms the measurement. The Brinell hardness number is automatically stored a computer file, along with the test number, diameter measurement, a result converted to another scale, a tolerance indicator, and date/time stamp. Up to 5 tolerance factors can be setup in a data file and statistics for the entire file can be produced. The test head is 66 mm diameter by 66 mm tall and weighs 0.75 kg.

Brinell testing has long been viewed as an important but not wholly accurate test method for a variety of reasons: variation due to grain structure, surface preparation, and most importantly scope measurements. This e-Brio Brinell scope eliminates this single most significant source of error in the Brinell test method, human judgment, as well as documentation errors.
