Brilliant Selected by IP Networks to Deliver Carrier-Class Sync for One of the Largest IP Backhaul Networks in North America

Agreement enables the delivery of high-speed, third-generation services

Campbell, Calif., September 22, 2008 - Brilliant Telecommunications, Inc. (Brilliant), a developer of next-generation synchronization and timing solutions and IP Networks, Inc., a pioneer in providing highly scalable Ethernet-Over-Fiber solutions to wireless operators, enterprises and service providers, announced they have signed a collaborative agreement to deliver carrier-class synchronization and increased network capacity for the IP backhaul. Under this agreement, Brilliant will enable IP Networks to support second-generation (2G), and high-speed third-generation (3G) and fourth-generation (4G) wireless services at a significantly reduced cost over existing solutions.

"Our legacy-free networks are designed to be the most reliable service delivery platforms for highly scalable transport services," said Gary George, president of IP Networks, Inc. "Having Brilliant's innovative solutions as a part of our architecture allows us to meet the mission critical network requirements of wireless operators and enterprises. Brilliant will be utilized in our recently awarded contract by a major North American mobile operator to deploy Ethernet-Over-Fiber services to over 1,000 cell sites in the San Francisco Bay Area."

Brilliant has developed ground-breaking next-generation packet-based solutions to address the need for end-to-end synchronization for mobile backhaul networks. As providers migrate to Ethernet and IP from low-bandwidth, expensive, circuit-based networks, timing and synchronization remain essential. Brilliant's solution outperforms the stringent timing requirements for the mobile backhaul while ensuring SLAs/KPIs are enforced, allowing for increased reliability leading to customer retention and acquisition.

"This is a revolutionary win for the IP backhaul market in North America," said Dr. Charles Barry, president and CEO, Brilliant Telecommunications. "New mobile applications carried by technologies such as High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) require much greater bandwidth than yesterday's traditional networks can handle. The IP Networks and Brilliant partnership establishes both companies as market leaders in mobile backhaul."
