Briggs & Stratton Introduces New 12kW, 17kW, 20kW Standby Generators At International Builders Show

New units are equipped with InfoHub™ and Amplify™ power management technology for improved control, streamlined diagnostics

Milwaukee, Wis., Feb. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Briggs & Stratton Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of three new 12kW*, 17kW* and 20kW* standby generator units at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas, February 19-21. The new units are enhanced with an improved controller for more efficient operations. They're also equipped with an updated InfoHub system and Amplify, the next generation of Symphony® II power management. The units are a part of Briggs & Stratton's robust line of high-quality standby generators ranging in power from 8kW* to 200kW*.

"These three new units offer customers a flexible, connected standby power solution," said Josh Cirillo, product manager, Briggs & Stratton®. "The enhancements made to the controller increase efficiency, while the expanded capabilities of InfoHub and the Amplify power management system provide more control and ease of use for true peace of mind with standby power."

Innovations on the three new units offer enhanced control and optimized performance. The new controller features a new exercise cycle; tighter frequency control; and smart automatic voltage regulator for reduced fuel consumption, quieter operation and decreased engine impact. Additionally, the new 12kW* features a brushed alternator with an improved surge current for motor starting capabilities. It can now start a 5-ton air conditioning unit with 50 percent of base load. The smart automatic voltage regulator works in concert with the brushed alternator on the 12kW* unit to achieve improved starting. It's also common across the 12kW*, 17kW* and 20kW* offerings and can be replaced individually on all of the new units, eliminating the need to replace the entire controller.

The updated InfoHub is available on the three new units and collects in-depth data on performance and maintenance needs to enhance generator management. It works in conjunction with the new Briggs & Stratton Service Diagnostic Tool, which simplifies service and troubleshooting by providing detailed diagnostics. Amplify, is also included on the new units and allows customers the flexibility to prioritize up to 32 different power modules through a smartphone compatible app, streamlining power management.
