New SCBA from 3M Provides Maximum Protection and Durability in IDLH Environments

ST. PAUL, MN - 3M Occupational Health & Environmental Safety Division introduces the Air-Mate(TM) 2000 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). This SCBA is designed for workers who require respiratory protection in environments that are immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH). It's NIOSH approved for both entry into and escape from confined spaces, and an optional airline connection enables the wearer to remain in IDLH atmospheres for extended periods of time.

The full facepiece features a quarter-turn pressure-demand valve for a secure attachment, and first-breath activation allows the unit to be donned in a non-hazardous environment before connecting the pressure-demand valve. A built-in speaking diaphragm allows clear communication with co-workers and an audible end-of-service alarm alerts wearers of low air supply. An easily viewable shoulder-mounted, low-pressure gauge indicates cylinder air pressure.

The Air-Mate(TM) 2000 SCBA features a single-piston, first-stage, fail-open regulator with minimal moving parts for improved dependability and reduced maintenance time and costs. The ergonomically designed backplate distributes weight evenly for maximum comfort, and a quick-release clamp makes cylinder changes quick and easy.
