Brass-on-Brass Wire for use with wire-cut EDM machine.

Press Release Summary:

Deltacut 2 wires have layer of 65% zinc-enriched, gamma-phase brass on wire's surface. This layer has a high melting point with tenacity. High zinc content improves cutting performance and produces better surface finish at same cutting speed as brass. It can be substituted for brass wire, at same machine settings, for an 8 to 15% performance improvement. Better performance can be achieved by using optimized settings.

Intech EDM Introduces Second New Deltacut (R) EDM Wire

Intech EDM today announced the introduction of Deltacut 2, the second member of the Deltacut family of zinc-enriched-brass-on-brass wires for wire-cut EDM machines.

Deltacut One was the first in this family of revolutionary EDM wire, originally introduced in 1998 and patented in 1999. Distributed solely by Intech EDM, Deltacut wires are made in the U.S.A. by Rea Engineered Wire Products, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They use a unique manufacturing process which creates a layer of 65% zinc-enriched, gamma-phase brass on the wire's surface. This layer has a high melting point with excellent tenacity, and the high zinc content dramatically improves cutting performance. Rea has exclusive rights to this gamma phase brass-on-brass technology. Deltacut 2 represents the logical next step in the developmental process, since it costs less than Deltacut One but still cuts significantly faster than brass wire. Economically, its performance results are compelling. It can simply be substituted for brass wire, at the same machine settings, for an 8 to 15% performance improvement; or even better performance can be achieved by utilizing optimized settings. Alternatively, at the same cutting speed as brass, it produces a superior surface finish.

Actual field results have also shown very reliable auto-threading performance with Deltacut 2, closely approximating results achieved by hard brass wires. According to Intech EDM, the new wire is suitable for literally any application where a high tensile wire is appropriate.
