Canara Launches Subscription Based Branch Circuit Monitoring

Innovative solution provides low cost entry point and extends existing outsourced UPS, Battery, Generator monitoring to the nervous system of the data center

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. and LONDON, -- (DatacenterDynamics) -- Canara, a provider of monitoring, management and predictive analytics solutions for critical backup power systems, today announced that the company has officially launched a comprehensive, proprietary Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM) solution that includes all required hardware, software, and services.   The solution allows for existing panels to be retrofitted in under an hour or select industry-standard panels can be pre-integrated with Canara BCM and ship as a complete solution.   The BCM hardware was designed with top-tier datacenter operator involvement and resulted in a simplified system with modular collector strips and removable split-core current transducers plus an in-panel aggregator.  In addition to the innovative BCM hardware, which allows for rapid retrofit or build, the suite includes a feature rich and secure cloud-based monitoring and analytics offering that operators can use to analyze and trend collected data to quickly identify potential problems, locate stranded power or even identify owners of circuits requiring increased capacity.  The Canara cloud-based software is backed by Canara's well-known 24x7 Monitoring Operations Center and service that provides both summary and detailed reporting through data aggregation and roll up, which is especially important when managing dozens or hundreds or thousands of panels.

"Cologix delivers highly efficient mission critical infrastructure with intimate and local customer support for our clients. We continue to make industry-leading investments in our capabilities and have long desired real time branch circuit monitoring at an appropriate cost to deliver the proactive visibility our customers want around their power consumption. With Canara BCM, we are able to achieve that and more," said Val Milshtein, VP of Technology for Cologix. "This complete solution provides us with a robust package of hardware, prognostic software and support from subject matter experts at a highly compelling price point and commercial structure. The days of manual clamping, expensive ineffective solutions and lack of visibility are over."

Beyond the BCM Solution described above, Canara is offering a unique way to purchase the product.  Instead of selling hardware, Canara is providing a low cost subscription model, which makes an otherwise expensive investment quite easy to justify and deploy enterprise-wide.

"We have wanted to deploy BCM for years, but until Canara, there has been a cost barrier.  Canara provided us a solution that goes way beyond expensive hardware and really makes it easy to build BCM right into our operating budgets with instant value and payback," said Alan Pearson, Director, Datacenters EMEA for Virtustream.

The Canara BCM solution is licensed on a per circuit per month basis and can be pre-integrated into new panels for builds that result in a very competitive initial and ongoing investment in panels alone.  It requires no contract term, includes worry free long-term warranty, 24x7 remote monitoring services and unlimited support from a team of experts.

"We are pleased to continue extending our 100% uptime, highly efficient asset management solutions from the core power conditioning and backup systems to the power distribution of the datacenter so our clients can operate with the headlights on and the gauges lit up with someone to call 24x7," said Steve Cotton, Founder and Executive Chairman of Canara.

"The modular design of Canara's BCM allows us to install the same product in a variety of panel configurations," said Iain Mckay, Managing Director of Adept Power Solutions. "Additionally, the plug-in split-core CTs and standard CAT5e cabling allows us to install and commission the complete solution in minutes rather than several hours."

The solution, which comes in a "Lite" or "Pro" version, is aimed at operators with mission critical power infrastructure and is available immediately with an introductory special subscription price point through March 30, 2014.

Canara is showcasing its new suite of branch circuit monitoring and cloud-based software and analytics offering this week at the DatacenterDynamics Converged Conference in London.
