Dings Introduces 'Smart' Brake With Integral Encoder



Milwaukee, WI - Dings newest brake - the Smart Brake - features an internally mounted encoder for precision applications in all environments.

This unique design eliminates the need for a separate enclosure to house the encoder - reducing size and cost. The sealed, hollow shaft incremental encoder provides continuous feedback for speed, direction and positioning on critical applications such as web lines, conveying, hoists and cranes. Information received from the encoder is fed to PLCs or to vector drives and variable speed controls.

Dings Smart Brake is available in torque ratings from 1.5 to 175 lb. ft. to fit NEMA C Face motors from 56C through 286TC. Enclosure types include standard, waterproof and washdown as well as UL approved hazardous location.
