Boundary Scan Platform supports RS422/RS485 interfaces.

Press Release Summary:

SCANFLEX® multi port module SFX-9305 accepts BAC 9305-RS422/485, which enables tests of RS422 and RS485 interfaces in combination with extended JTAG/Boundary Scan operations. Bus Access Cable (BAC) can be independently plugged into any free port of I/O module, where interface will be recognized and automatically configured. Available interface functions contain stepwise handling of protocol layers, including bi-directional data transfer.

Original Press Release:

Boundary Scan Plattform SCANFLEX® erweitert Testabdeckung auf RS422/RS485-Interfaces

GOEPEL electronic, vendor of JTAG/Boundary Scan solutions, introduced BAC 9305-RS422/485, another Bus Access Cables (BAC) as a new member of the industry leading JTAG/Boundary Scan hardware platform SCANFLEX®.

In connection with the SCANFLEX® multi port module SFX-9305 the new family member of Bus Access Cables enables the tests of RS422 and RS485 interfaces, in combination with extended JTAG/Boundary Scan operations, based on a unique platform.

"Interference-free data transfers via RS422 and RS 485 are highly important, in particular in automation technology and the electronics industry. We are now able to completely test such interfaces with our new Bus Access Cable", Bettina Richter, GOEPEL electronic's marketing manager gladly announces. "Because the test is executed at full dynamics and doesn't require specific firmware, it is possible to minimise project development costs and increase fault coverage quality."

In the pool of already existing Bus Access Cables for Bluetooth, LAN, USB2.0 (Master/Slave), RS232, CAN and LIN, BAC 9305-RS422/485 is already the seventh family member. Each BAC can be independently plugged into any free port of the SFX-9305 SCANFLEX® I/O module, where the interface will be recognised and configured automatically.

The interface is recognised and configured automatically, whereby BAC type and number to be used can then be freely defined by the user.

Available interface functions contain the stepwise handling of protocol layers incl. bi-directional data transfer. Consequently, users are able to completely control the interface target without additional driver software, and clearly identify faults.

In connection with the SFX-9305 module, BAC 9305-RS422/485 can be freely combined with all SCANFLEX® controllers on PCI, PCI Express, Cabled PCI Express, PXI, PXI Express, FireWire, USB or LAN basis. It is fully supported in the industry leading Boundary Scan Software SYSTEM CASCON(TM) from version 4.5 on. Module configuration and handling of test program data are based on user-friendly CASLAN instructions. CASLAN is an extremely powerful Boundary Scan programming language with several hundred commands supporting IEEE1149.1, IEEE1149.4, IEEE1149.6, IEEE1532, and JESD71 as well as mixed signal operations and VarioTAP® for emulation test.
