Bosch Introduces Universal Quick Change Hole Saw System

Revolutionary Design Works With Any Brand of Tool or Hole Saw

Mount Prospect, Ill., September 7, 2007 - Bosch Power Tools and Accessories has introduced its new Quick Change Hole Saw System, offering users more convenience and versatility than ever before. Bosch's quick change adapter nuts and mandrels work with almost any manufacturer's hole saw cups. The quick change system enables users to easily change hole saw cups in seconds and move effortlessly between applications, sizes, and materials.

Quick Change Mandrel and Adapter Nuts
The quick change mandrel comes in three sizes (3/8-inch, ½-inch, and SDS-Plus shank) and accepts Bosch-patented adapters that attach to all major brand cups. Users simply attach the adapters to their cups, drill a hole, and pull back on the mandrel to change cup sizes in seconds. The quick change system also eliminates the time-consuming task of digging the plug out from the middle of the cup. Again, in seconds, the user can eject the plug upon angled re-insertion of the pilot bit.

The patent pending drive system offers tighter tolerances for less wobble/vibration and better hole quality. The system features a ¼-inch hex shank pilot bit, which eliminates the need for set screws, Allen wrenches, and screwdrivers.

The universal adapter nuts feature a hex shank for easy installation and removal with the quick change mandrels. The heavy-duty hex drive design ensures that hole saws lock quickly and securely into place, unlike conventional threaded systems, which can seize up and force parts to weld together. The adapter nuts are designed to work with most major brand hole saws so users can experience quick change with their existing hole saw setup, measuring the time it takes to change cups in seconds, not minutes.

Bi-Metal
Professionals can find any size cup they need within Bosch's bi-metal lineup consisting of 53 bi-metal hole saw sizes ranging from 9/16-inch to 6-inch. The saws are made of eight percent cobalt alloy, allowing for extreme resilience and longer life. The bi-metal saws also feature Bosch's signature progressive tooth design with a more powerful bite and accelerated chip clearance for quick and clean cuts. Bosch also offers three kits - a 17-piece plumber, a 19-piece electrician, and a 25-piece master. The 17-piece kit has seven cups ranging from ¾" to 2-9/16", the 19-piece offers 8 cups ranging from 7/8" to 3-5/8", and the 25-piece offers 11 cups ranging from ¾" to 3". These kits include Bosch's patented Quick Change mandrel, adapter nuts, and springs.

Bosch has also introduced new lines of specialty hole saws to tackle almost every type of material or application for today's professionals.

Sheet Metal
Need a hole saw for sheet metal? Think blue. Color-coded packaging quickly identifies Bosch's new bi-metal hole saw specifically designed for sheet metal. Bosch's sheet metal hole saw lasts up to three times longer and cuts three times faster than the competition. The hole saw is equipped with a spring for automatic material ejection, variable tooth pitch that is optimized for fast, precise cutting and a lipped-edge that acts as a safety stopper, which prevents breakthrough and leaves the work surface intact.

Carbide
When working with especially dense materials, Bosch's new carbide hole saw is the ideal choice. The carbide saw has diamond-ground carbide teeth that are extremely powerful and durable with drop-shaped chip clearance slots for fast, uninterrupted cutting. The carbide hole saw can easily cut through wood, ceramic tile (floor and wall), brick and cinder block, cement board, fiber-cement board, and plastic.

Hole Enlarger
Measure once, cut twice? When the original hole is cut too small or larger diameter materials need to fit in an existing hole, Bosch's new Hole Enlarger Kit is the perfect answer. Users only need to attach the desired hole saw size to the nut and then attach the cup that fits the original hole size. The first cup acts as a pilot guide allowing the second cup to accurately cut the correct hole size.
