PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2015

Tailored solutions for the fresh, frozen, snack food and confectionery industries

• New corner seal functionality extends hygienic SVC pack style capabilities

• Market’s fastest vertical Doy Zip bagger produces up to 100 bags per minute

• Entry level SVI vertical form, fill and seal incorporates high end VFFS technology

Las Vegas, Nevada – To help food producers enliven their brands and stand out at the point-of-sale, Bosch Packaging Technology, a leading supplier of processing and packaging solutions, will debut several enhancements to its vertical packaging portfolio at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2015. Bosch will present a new corner seal option for its vertical form, fill and seal platform SVC, targeting market segments that have high hygiene requirements like salads, frozen food, milk powder or shredded cheese. For nut and confectionery manufacturers, the company will also unveil the fastest vertical Doy Zip bagger on the market, producing up to 100 high-quality Doy Zip bags per minute with maximum output per square meter and high return on investment (ROI). For confectionery, coffee, snack, grain and other food and non-food manufacturers looking to automate their packaging, Bosch will display its SVI 2600 entry level VFFS solution. The intermittent bagger incorporates the same proven technology employed on its higher-end baggers.

“At Bosch, we believe variation in packaging leads to shelf differentiation which is why we provide multiple solutions to drive interest and fit diverse and constantly evolving consumer demands. Corner seal bags catch the consumer’s eye in the fresh and frozen food aisles, the Doy Zip bag will win the hearts of snack and confectionery buyers, and our various other bag styles will fill the shelves in all areas of the stores,” says Jonathon Titterton, director of sales marketing, Bosch Packaging Technology. “Bosch technology lets manufacturers produce popular bag styles for specific market segments while also offering pack style flexibility, hygienic design and ease of use for maximum production efficiency.”

Taking hygiene to the next level

At PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2015, Bosch will present the new corner-sealing capabilities of its SVC 2620 VFFS machine. The SVC platform was designed with simplicity, versatility and cleanability in mind, focusing on hygienic design to help manufacturers meet diverse food handling regulations.

The new corner seal option can be easily integrated into the existing SVC machine without increasing the floor space needed. This increased pack style flexibility supports the needs of brand marketers who are increasingly choosing stand-up pack styles to enhance product appeal at point-of-sale. By adding the corner seal functionality, the machine can now produce up to four different pack styles, including pillow bag, gusseted, block bottom and corner seal.

Designed to excite – the new Doy Zip pack style from Bosch

Bosch will also present the new SVE 2520 DZ vertical bagger. Based on Bosch's well-proven SVE platform, the new bagger provides high-quality output within a compact, six square meter footprint, fitting easily within manufacturing lines. Its continuous-motion operation is coupled with a unique, patent-pending zipper applicator to enable high-speed production and ultimately a lower cost-per-bag for increased ROI. The machine offers seven different bag styles: pillow, gusseted, block bottom, corner seal, full corner, 3-sided, and doy, with various reclosure options, including zipper.

Premium quality and attractive shape of Doy Zip bags help drive greater visibility and consumer preference for food products at the point-of-sale. The standability of the bag protects the contents for future consumption as well as allowing for easy opening and reclosing, features that further contribute to consumer convenience and enhance brand loyalty. By being able to vertically form, fill and seal, the machine has also been engineered for easy operation and maintenance and maximum flexibility. Changeovers from pillow to Doy Zip take as little as 45 minutes.

At PACK EXPO, the SVE 2520 DZ will be displayed with a Yamato scale and Bosch’s CCM 3100 case packer. The Yamato scale ensures accurate dosing for precise bag filling and product savings. The CCM 3100 is designed for ease of use and increased flexibility. The case packer enables quick and tool-less changeovers between vertical (stand-up) and horizontal (lay-flat) bag orientation in the case and handles up to 180 products per minute. In addition, it integrates easily with vertical and horizontal FFS machines and works with a wide range in both bag and case sizes and styles.

Entry-level solution with high-end technology

The company will also highlight its entry-level SVI 2600 VFFS machine, suitable for a wide range of industries, including confectionery, snacks, grains and other food and non-food products. The machine is ideal for small- and mid-sized companies looking to automate their packaging technologies and for large manufacturers seeking a cost-effective option for small-volume processing or for test marketing new products. The SVI 2600 incorporates the same proven technology employed on high-end baggers, such as servo-driven cross-sealing units, vacuum belts and Bosch/Beckhoff controls to ensure reliable, high-efficiency packaging. The servo-driven sealing jaws and vacuum belts enable high seal precision with accurate sealing time, ensuring package integrity and fast operations with minimum machine wear. The intermittent motion bagger can be easily integrated with existing equipment and produces pillow, side-gusseted and block-bottom bags at rates up to 120 bags per minute.

Ultimate product protection for U.S. coffee producers

Bosch will also display the SVI 2600 with its proven coffee valve applicator technology for the prevention of coffee deterioration. Bosch’s product protection portfolio includes inside and outside valves and valve applicators. For easy integration, the valve applicator works in line with Bosch’s vertical baggers and package makers or can be retrofitted into existing packaging machines from both Bosch and alternative suppliers for a space-saving option. At the show, attendees will see a live display of the VIS valve with the CVA VIS applicator for inside valves. The applicator uses heat or ultrasonic sealing for internal application of coffee valves to flexible bags providing a visually appealing package with a barely visible, strong sealing seam. External application of the V55 outside valve, launched at last year’s PACK EXPO, is also available with the CVA V55 applicator, providing precise application at high speeds. The external placement of the valve also enhances safety by enabling easy monitoring and inspection of functionality. Bosch’s valve applicator technologies can be used as stand-alone options or can be combined with additional technologies providing complete solutions from valve application to coffee packaging.

Show attendees are invited to meet with Bosch experts at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2015, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, September 28 to September 30, Booth C-2800.
