BorderWare Delivers Security for VoIP on Sun Microsystems Technology

TORONTO, Feb. 12 / -- BorderWare Technologies, a leader in the SIP-based VoIP security market is announcing today the availability of our award winning SIPassure VoIP Security Gateway on the Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS) from Sun Microsystems. The solution is available on both the x64/x86 and SPARC platforms and leverages the broad range of hardware platforms Sun offers. By combining SIPassure with the performance and reliability of the Solaris 10 OS, BorderWare is offering the market a new level of price performance and security for VoIP, and other convergent applications leveraging the SIP protocol.

"Sun was the obvious choice for delivering high performance SIP security," said Tim Leisman, CEO of BorderWare. "BorderWare can deliver carrier class performance without the need for costly proprietary hardware by leveraging the Solaris 10 OS and the new generation of Sun hardware. Sun is well established in the telecommunications marketplace, and delivering SIPassure on the Solaris 10 OS will further strengthen this position."

"The combination of the Solaris 10 OS, which now includes Trusted Extensions to provide the highest level of security certifications available on commercial operating systems, and BorderWare's experience in delivering world class security solutions is a perfect match," noted Juan Carlos Soto, vice president of Market Development at Sun Microsystems. "Through their participation in our 10 Moves Program, BorderWare has been able to rapidly port the existing solution to the Solaris 10 OS. Together we can now deliver best in class performance and security for the VoIP and SIP markets."

BorderWare's SIPassure securely enables and protects SIP-based convergence applications - VoIP, video and IM - and combines key features of three technologies: Session Border Control (SBC), an Application Layer Gateway (ALG) and a SIP/VoIP Firewall. By combining these technologies, SIPassure enables VoIP traffic to securely traverse the network while keeping service provider core infrastructure free from external malicious threats. SIPassure is based on BorderWare's proven expert threat detection and prevention technology developed through 12 years of experience ensuring security for a wide range of IP-based mission critical applications.
