Original Press Release:

No Extendable Axles Needed with JLG(R) High Reach Boom Lifts

McConnellsburg, PA, November 26. 2001 - The new 800 Series telescopic boom lifts from JLG Industries, Inc. feature an innovative boom design that allows for a narrow machine width and low gross vehicle weight. The Models 800S and 860SJ are both housed on a fixed 8-ft. 2-in. wide frame. Because of the design, extendable axles are not necessary for the operation of the boom lift, which means faster set-up times and increased reliability. The narrow working width allows access to congested, hard to reach areas that are off-limits to wider machines. The results are machines with performance and maneuverability designed to optimize productivity and reduce costs. The Model 800S is a standard telescoping boom lift with 80-ft. platform height and the Model 800SJ has a 6-ft. articulating jib with 86-ft. platform height. The 800 Series boom lifts have a total lift cycle from ground to 80 ft. and return of less than 130 seconds - 40% faster than the competition. Horizontal reach is 71 ft. on the Model 800S and 75 ft. on the Model 860SJ. The Model 860SJ features the industry's first dual capacity rating on a jib machine. With 750-lbs. restricted and 500-lbs. unrestricted capacity, the Model 860SJ increases productivity by allowing more men and materials in the platform. The non-jib Model 800S has even greater capability with 1000-lbs. restricted and 500-lbs. unrestricted capacity. JLG was the first to offer an oscillating axle on an 80-ft. boom lift and continues the tradition with the 800 Series. The operator gets a smoother ride and better traction in all tvpes of conditions for improved productivity. With the 4-wheel drive option, gradeability has been increased to an industry leading 45% with ground clearance of 12 in. and 14.5-in. break-over clearance. Drive speed on both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive models is 3.5 mph. Another new feature is the Advanced Design Electronic control system that provides better fuel efficiency and improved function control. The Control ADE(TM) system also reduces the nunmber of wires and connections throughout the machines so troubleshooting can be efficiently performed using a hand-held analyzer. The 800 Series boom lifts have several available options that transform them into a Workstation in the Sky(TM) products. The SkyWelder(TM) package contains a complete stick and tig welding system integrated within the machine. The Night-Bright package consists of six lights mounted on the platform and chassis to illuminate the work site and area around the machine. A pipe rack mounted on the platform rail that safely secures up to 180 lbs. of pipe within close reach is also an option. JLG Industries, Inc. is the world's leading producer of mobile aerial work platforms and a leading manufacturer of rough-terrain, variable-reach material handlers and telescopic hydraulic excavators marketed under the JLG and Gradall trademarks. Sales are made principally to rental companies and distributors that rent and sell the Company's products to a diverse customer base, which includes users in the industrial, commercial, institutional and construction markets.
