Duplo Introduces Upgrade for Perfect Binder Range with the New DB-280 Perfect Binder

(Santa Ana, CA: September 9th 2007) Duplo USA has introduced the new DB-280 Perfect Binder which brings professional quality perfect binding to the desktop. With the ability to produce up to 200 books per hour, this user-friendly machine is ideal for short-run and on-demand printing applications such as soft and hard cover books, notepads and strip bound books. The DB-280 comes with additional features such as a second glue drum for improved glue penetration and greater bind quality, case and strip binding capabilities and air vacuum dust removal as standard.

The DB-280 has a single-operator design for greater productivity. Electronic operation and a clearly marked microprocessor control panel ensure more precise settings, and a push of one button converts the machine for padding jobs. The DB-280's automated binding enables operators to simply place flat sheets into the clamp, where pages are gripped automatically and the binding process is started. A double pass over the roughening cutter provides superior notching to ensure superb glue penetration, and a unique notching system eliminates paper dust for cleaner operation also helped by the air vacuum dust removal system.

"With the continuing upward trend in the global book production market, we are confident that the DB-280 will be extremely popular in a variety of different print environments. We are confident that this new addition to our binding family will be ideal for on demand bookmaking which will allow print finishing rooms and quick printers to expand their customer offering and therefore business opportunities," says Si Nguyen, product marketing manager at Duplo USA Corporation. "In addition, the DB-280 also features a patented clamping and nipping system that ensures consistent and square binds."

The DB-280 also includes a cover detection mechanism at the nipping station that assures the clamp will not travel back to the nipping position until the cover stock is in position. Optimum operator convenience is further ensured by the ability to preset nipping and clamping time and by a stand-by mode that allows periodic interruptions in production while minimizing glue deterioration. A safety cover on the notching blade ensures operator safety.

The DB-280 is capable of binding a wide range of materials with a maximum booklet size of 320 x 400mm and minimum size of 80mm x 50mm. It has a maximum binding thickness of 40mm.
