EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Bluestar Silicones touts its new silicone solutions for the medical market and its support of select long term implantable applications at the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference (Booth #2233), June 10-12, at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
Supporting Long-Term Implant Applications
Bluestar Silicones announces it is expanding its silicone offering to support select long-term implant applications as part of its strategy to expand its presence in the global healthcare market. The company's new 226,000-sq-ft facility in York, S.C., will be the global center of excellence for the company's implant grade liquid silicone rubber (LSR), high consistency rubber (HCR) and room temperature vulcanized (RTV) rubber.
High Performance Easy-to-Process LSRs
On the LSR front, the company is broadening its high durometer LSR portfolio, adding a 65 Shore A (ShA) hardness material to its high performance lineup. Silbione® LSR 4365 offers a middle ground solution between the exceptional physicals of Silbione LSR 4360 and Silbione LSR 4370, enabling product designers to optimize final part performance requirements.
Bluestar Silicones also will highlight its unique ultra-low durometer LSRs. The company now offers a 1 ShA material, Silbione® LSR 4301, delivering exceptional high tear strength and elongation for soft cushioning and vibration dampening applications combined with the ease of processing and improved productivity advantages Bluestar Silicones' LSRs have become known for delivering.
New RTV Products
The company is introducing new healthcare RTV materials including a multi-durometer RTV and a new additive to achieve life-like feel. Silbione® RTV 4040 expands Bluestar Silicones high performance healthcare product line with a low viscosity, easy-to-pour RTV that can be used with multiple catalysts for a variety of hardness (20 to 45 ShA) in a 10:1 formulation.
Silbione® FLESH 10 ADD is a new additive that, when added to Silbione® RTVs, reduces shock and vibration and provides realistic flesh-like feel in prosthetic devices.
"Bluestar Silicones has been investing for growth to meet the next generation of customer needs," says Karen O'Keefe, marketing director. "Our new products and our expansion into long term implant demonstrate our commitment to meeting the unmet needs of the market. And, we deliver these silicone solutions with a personal touch unmatched in the industry."
The company also offers high consistency rubbers (HCR), room-temperature vulcanized silicones (RTVs), skin adhesive tacky gels, cushioning gels and permanent adhesives for the healthcare market. For more information, call (866) 474-6342.
