New ABL90 FLEX Analyzer Puts Time on the Caregiver's Side

COPENHAGEN, -- 35 seconds. That's how fast caregivers can get blood gas results on the
ABL90 FLEX, Radiometer's next-generation, cassette-based analyzer. The unmatched short time to results enables caregivers to spend less time on testing and more on patient care.

Ideal for the point of care

Designed specifically for point-of-care testing, the ABL90 FLEX analyzer measures 17 parameters, including blood gas, electrolytes, metabolites and CO-oximetry from just 65µL of whole blood.

"The goal with the ABL90 FLEX was to create an analyzer that would actually decrease time spent on testing, so caregivers would have more time for patient care," says Radiometer President Peter Kürstein. "I believe we have succeeded with that. Both in creating an instrument that offers unmatched time to results, but also one that brings Radiometer's renowned bench top accuracy and throughput into a compact, easy-to-use, no-maintenance analyzer."

More time for patient care

The focus on reducing time spent with the analyzer has resonated well with experts and customers.

"Time is a crucial parameter in obtaining a better patient outcome," says Christopher Price, visiting professor in clinical biochemistry at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. "As a caregiver, you need to make clinical decisions rapidly and reliably. Having an instrument that enables this not only helps increase ICU capacity, but also improves patient outcome," Price says. "It puts time on the caregiver's side."

Annette Larsen, an ICU nurse at Furesø Hospital in Denmark agrees. "Time is very important for us," Larsen says. "As a caregiver, I want to spend as little time as possible on testing and as much as possible on my patients. With the ABL90 FLEX, I can do that. It gives me more time for patient care,"
she concludes.

About the ABL90 FLEX
