Black Oxide Finishing Systems support lean manufacturing.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring 40 and 100 gal tank capacity, respectively, BC40 and BC100 TRU TEMP™ Pre-Engineered Systems utilize 7 tanks, are constructed of 10 gauge welded steel or welded polypropylene, and are supplied with all heaters and plumbing connections. Processing lines form .000020 in. thick black magnetite finish in 10–12 minutes. Offering substitute for dangerous 290°F hot oxide processes, TRU TEMP operates at nearly 100°F lower temperature, eliminating hazards of boiling tank.

Original Press Release:

Enhance Lean Manufacturing and Reduce Costs with In-House TRU TEMP Black Oxide Finishing Systems Available from Birchwood Technologies

Eden Prairie, Minnesota: Reduce costs through lean manufacturing metal finishing using the latest BC40 or BC100 TRU TEMP™ black oxide processing lines. Both tank lines, available in either a 40 or 100 gallon capacity, are completely pre-engineered process lines for fast setup and use. These tank systems utilize seven individual tanks, are ruggedly constructed of either 10 gauge welded steel (epoxy painted)or welded polypropylene, and are supplied with all necessary heaters and plumbing connections.

The TRU TEMP process is the solution to achieve lean manufacturing when it comes to metal finishing. The process maximizes quality, efficiency, and safety by streamlining part movement and eliminating unnecessary operations. With a fast 10 – 12 minute blackening time, this process forms a durable, black magnetite finish of .000020 inch thickness. The TRU TEMP process is an ideal in-house substitute for dangerous 290° F hot oxide processes. Operating at nearly 100° F lower temperature, TRU TEMP black oxide is safe, operator friendly, and eliminates the severe hazards of a boiling tank. This in-house process makes it far easier and faster to supply customer just-in-time requirements and enhances ISO accountability.

Satisfying Mil Spec DTL 13924D and AMS 2485, the TRU TEMP process contains no EPA regulated metals, so rinse waters are generally sewerable without waste treatment. Because the process requires no effluent treatment, the initial capital investment is only about half of other blackening systems. Significant savings are also made in operating costs because the system requires less energy than conventional hot oxide finishing systems.
