Finesse Solutions Launches Next Generation SmartGlass 3L Bioreactors for Cell Culture and Fermentation

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Finesse Solutions, Inc, a manufacturer of measurement and control solutions for life sciences process applications, announced the launch of its new SmartGlass(TM) autoclavable 3L glass bioreactors for upstream cell culture and fermentation.  The 3L glass vessels are the first in a new product family of Finesse bioreactors and are designed to optimize yield in both R&D and cGMP applications.  They are fully compatible with all Finesse G3Lab controllers, and with SmartAdapters can be utilized with third party controllers.

Designed for R&D and process development scale-up, SmartGlass vessels enable easier handling and faster assembly/disassembly for cleaning.  They were developed to be fully hygienic to ensure complete process sterility and minimize lost batches.  The vessels are manufactured with the highest standards for surface finish and safety of operation.

"We have made many design improvements to optimize the SmartGlass platform for cell culture and fermentation processes.  For examples, our cold finger has increased surface area to enable faster thermal control and increase cooling capacity so that a single-wall vessel can be used for fermentation.  We have also collaborated closely with the group of Profs. Dieter and Regine Eibl at the University of Wadenswil in Zurich, Switzerland, in order to create a novel impeller design that produces higher average k(L)a, and increases power transfer while minimizing shear. The vessels have been designed using all of the machinery available for computational fluid mechanics simulations," stated Dr. Mark Selker, Vice President of R&D and co-founder of Finesse Solutions.
