Biomass Combustion Emphasizes Safety by UL 391 Re-certification of their Industrial Wood Burning Furnaces
Worcester, Massachusetts, August, 6, 2007-Biomass Combustion Systems, a manufacturer of industrial Wood Fired Combustion Systems, today announces the UL391 re-certification of their industrial wood burning furnaces by an independent testing company, Intertek. The wood furnaces, in the marketplace for over 20 years, were originally UL391 certified in 1991, representing a long history of safety standard adherence. With UL391 Safety Compliance certification, BCS strengthens the role of wood fuel as a safe means for low cost industrial heating. UL391 is a recognized industrial safety standard which reinforces BCS' reputation of manufacturing safe, reliable furnaces.
The Underwriters Laboratories 391 Standard Test "Standard for Safety Solid-Fuel and Combination-Fuel Central and Supplementary Furnaces" addresses manually fueled, solid-fuel-fired central furnaces that burn "solid fuels", which includes wood. BCS' Model 36 800,000 BTU/hr Shop Heater was found to be in compliance with the applicable performance and construction requirements of UL391-06. According to the Intertek Test Report, the smaller and similar model 30" Shop Heater (400,000 BTU/hr) was also found to be in compliance, "when installed and operated under the same requirements as model 36."
