SICK Launches Pick2Light Bin Picking System

Unique, external mounting feature requires less parts, cuts costs

Minneapolis, Minn., - May 22, 2006. SICK, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems and automatic identification products for industrial applications, today announced it has launched its Pick2Light bin control system - a low cost, easy-to-integrate solution for assembly and picking applications.

The Pick2Light system from SICK offers reliable hand detection and a 360-degree visible job LED. This single-sided retro-reflective light grid cuts parts and labor costs in half due to its external t-slot frame mounting feature. Each bin only requires one light grid. The external mounting configuration also cuts down on damage caused by workers when removing parts or inserting bins - and it doesn't restrict bin size. In addition, the Pick2Light also has a rugged metal housing and is simple to install and easy to adjust.

Additional features include five different available sensor heights - from 120 mm to 420 mm, for maximum flexibility, depending on bin contents. It is also protected from reflections and ambient light, and offers a range up to 2 meters.
