Bigge Crane and Rigging of San Leandro, California has invested millions of dollars into new state-of-the-art heavy lifting and transportation equipment to meet the needs of the wind energy sector.
Bigge has unrivalled experience of wind turbine erection on the West Coast and is now making its equipment available to contractors nationwide.
This equipment includes:
o Twelve Liebherr LR 1300 crawler cranes - 660,000 lbs lifting capacity (300 metric tons) and up to 393 ft of main boom. A special configuration of 282' of main boom and a short 23 ft jib is purpose-designed for up close lifting and placing turbines on wind towers.
o Nine Liebherr LR 1200sx crawler cranes - 485,000 lbs lifting capacity (220 metric tons) and up to 384 ft of main boom and up to 312 ft of luffing jib.
Liebherr crawler cranes have superior load charts, thanks to their rugged construction, yet are quick and easy to transport and assemble. Safety is assured through modern electronic control systems that continuously monitor all lifting parameters and calculate safety factors.
o Six Manitowoc 2250 crawler cranes - 600,000 lifting capacity from North America's favorite brand of crawler crane.
Bigge also has a comprehensive range of rough terrain, all terrain and truck cranes to support wind turbine construction operations, including the fifteen new Link-Belt RTC8090's and fifteen new 120-ton capacity Terex RT 1120 rough terrain cranes and the 600 ton capacity Demag AC 500 all terrain.
For heavy transport operations, Bigge has a vast inventory of specialized platform trailer lines as well as low boy and flat bed trailers.
All equipment is maintained to the highest standards for optimum performance and reliability.
Bigge also supports wind power contractors by offering a full engineering design service, complete with Auto CAD drawings, for planning lifting and transportation operations.
Bigge has deployed their first brand new LR1300 crawler crane to support the Roscoe Wind Farm project in Texas.
Bigge is exhibiting at the WINDPOWER 2007 exhibition in Los Angeles, June 3-6th (Booth A350).
