Bernard's New Dura-Flux(TM) Gun Makes the Grade at Ironworkers' Train the Trainers Convention

o Union trainers appreciate small trigger guard, ergonomic design

SAN DIEGO, Calif., October 10, 2007-Some of the most demanding welders around, members of the International Ironworkers Union, were impressed by the quality and comfort of Bernard's new Dura-Flux gun during the union's recent Instructor's Training Program.

Held every July at the University of San Diego, the program draws hundreds of the nation's best welders and welding instructors and establishes nationwide training standards for union members along with valuable equipment and technology updates.

This year's attendees were given the opportunity to try out Bernard's first entry into the self-shielded flux-cored gun market, the Dura-Flux. The verdict was overwhelmingly positive.

The weight distribution is very well balanced and the handle is lighter than others I've used, reports Daniel Stinson, Nashville, Tenn. Local 492. I also like the small trigger guard. I usually end up taking the heat shields off of other guns because they get in the way when trying to access narrow joints, but I haven't had any such problems with the Dura-Flux.

Luke Pendleton, a welder with the Local 24 union in Denver, Colo., appreciated the Dura-Flux's long neck option, non-metallic trigger and the rotating neck. It's great. The longer neck keeps and non-metallic trigger keep my hands cooler, and rotating the neck allows me to better position the gun in difficult to reach joints.

The Dura-Flux is rated to 350 amps at 100 percent duty cycle and can handle higher current loads at reduced duty cycles. It accepts flux-cored wire up to 3/32-in. and is equipped with a heavy-duty monocoil power cable. The Dura-Flux also comes standard with Bernard's Centerfire(TM) contact tips, which outlast other brands of tips and change out in about half the time of other tips due to their threadless, drop-in design.
