Benefits of Using a Fiberglass Enclosure for Protection of UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst Systems Pump Include the Ability to Choose from a Wide Range of Sizes, Chemical Resistance, and Ease of Modification

Emissions Technology Inc. (ETI) currently builds the UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst Systems for use in off-road diesel engines in a wide variety of end-use applications. This includes: construction, mining, oil and gas drilling and production, marine, rail transportation, agriculture, military and decentralized power generation.

ETI offers six models of its UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst System that have been custom-designed to retrofit all sizes of off-road diesel engines with little or no modification. The system has been field-tested on more than 2,500 engines since its commercial introduction. Typically, UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst Systems can reduce fuel consumption by up to 20% which is why it continues to be a very important and growing product line for our company.

However, we found ourselves unhappy with our original selection, from a manufacturer of a yellow polycarbonate watertight protective cases, to protect our system because they did not have all the sizes we needed, we noticed some corrosion from the chemicals used and they were more difficult to modify. Consequently we explored many options for enclosures, especially non-metallic alternatives that we knew would perform reliably in harsh, corrosive environments typical of where our systems are applied.

Our enclosure analysis featured several important criteria:

· We required an enclosure manufacturer that offered a wide range of sizes because our systems vary from customer to customer.

· Enclosure must be available in the proper yellow color to meet safety requirements.

· It had to be easy to modify the enclosures because our catalyst systems require cutouts for several connections.

Ultimately, to protect the pumps of the UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst System we selected fiberglass enclosures from Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures. Specifically: Stahlin J, RJ and N series of enclosures. The J and RJ Series are ideal for use as instrument housings or junction boxes and have been designed for diverse applications associated with extremely corrosive environments. In addition, these enclosures can be easily configured with cutouts and modifications that can make a finished product like our catalyst system truly unique.

The Stahlin N Series are large enclosures that are used in a variety of applications involving widely ranging environmental conditions. This type 4X product is designed to meet the rigorous demands of indoor and outdoor applications. The N series enclosures maintain a watertight, corrosion resistant protection against a range of chemicals, windblown dust, rain, sleet and external ice formation. The fiberglass enclosures we have placed in the field have effectively withstood exposure to harsh environment and the occasional leak of chemical fluids that our previous options could not.

Stahlin's J, RJ, and N meet one of the most important criteria for our systems: a variety of sizes. Together they contain all the dimensional requirements to fit our systems for housing the catalyst pumps. The enclosures are molded in yellow at the factory, reducing the need for painting.

Stahlin has also taken the burden of modifying the enclosures off our small staff by conducting all of the modifications the systems require.
