Cost Effective Bench-top BGA Rework Station Is Real Workhorse
San Diego (December 22, 2003) - FocalSpot, Inc., a provider of inspection and rework/repair solutions and services to the OEM and electronics manufacturing services industries, today announced the North American debut of a truly cost-effective workhorse in rework applications, Den-on Instruments RD-500SH. Designed for both lead-free and standard solder, the system is a vision based semi-automated reflow, removal and placement rework station for all printed circuit assemblies, including connectors. The RD-500SH combines high-powered top and bottom heaters with an advanced auto-profiling technology to efficiently heat and reflow the most demanding of rework applications from small PDA's and cell phones, to PC motherboards and multi-layered avionics back planes. The new rework station is ideal for depot repair centers, prototype houses, electronic manufacturers, contract manufacturers, OEMs and others that demand quality, repeatable rework solutions.
The RD-500SH uses a combination of dark IR and localized Hot Gas heating technology to deliver optimal temperature and time profiles for even thick boards and large high I/O count (>40mm) area array packages. The RD-500SH provides more than enough heat to handle today's lead-free solders as well as traditional lead solders. Rework profiles can easily and quickly be established and verified using the Den-on Auto-profiling software. For the operator, a simple to use interface enables operators to do exactly what is required time and time again to remove and replace BGA/µBGA, CSP, LGA, QFP, PLCC, connectors and other SMT components especially important with today's increasingly smaller chip packages and lead-free challenges. The software program and profile information is stored in a Windows XP configured computer making it business-friendly, compatible and readily accessible via LAN, WAN or the Internet.
The RD-500SH can handle boards up to 400mm X 420mm using a standard board fixture or can accommodate boards much larger or smaller, using optional or custom board holders. Components are quickly aligned and positioned using a digital dual-vision imaging system that views the board and component simultaneously, providing accurate placement and repeatable rework operations. The RD-500SH also comes with an ultra-quiet vacuum pump capable of running standard air or nitrogen gas, making this a complete standalone system in a space efficient package. These features make the RD-500SH ideal for nearly every rework application, board type and size, while providing quality rework capabilities of systems that sell for more than twice the price.
