Kingsbury Introduces High Performance Bearing Material

PHILADELPHIA (April 29, 2004) - Kingsbury, Inc. announces the availability of fluid-film thrust and journal bearings incorporating an engineered plastic bearing surface for use in process lubricated applications. Bearings made with this extremely tough, yet dimensionally stable material were specifically designed to replace the now obsolete asbestos-based bearings found in boiler re-circulation and submersible pumps.

Kingsbury's advanced bearing pad material is environmentally friendly and can operate directly in water, process fluid or oil. The new material provides excellent resistance to chemical attack and exhibits superior wear characteristics, possessing the ability to tolerate dry start conditions. Mechanical properties such as strength, resistance to creep and thermal / electric characteristics can be varied for improved bearing performance.

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Kingsbury designs and manufactures a wide variety of standard and custom thrust and journal bearings for rotating equipment applications, including gas and steam turbines, compressors, gearboxes, pumps, air preheaters and ship propulsion systems. Kingsbury has extended its product offering over the last two years with the recent acquisition of a rolling element bearing line as well as the creation of a new Magnetic Bearings division.
