Baylor Scott and White Health Adopts Christie VeinViewer Imaging Device

Vein Illumination Devices Implemented at Facilities Across Texas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Christie Medical Holdings , Inc., a global leader in portable vascular imaging systems, today announced placement of the Christie VeinViewer® HD vein illumination device in 15 Baylor Scott White Health facilities across the state of Texas. More than 60 VeinViewer systems assist in intravenous (IV) catheter placement and blood draws.

The Christie VeinViewer system is the first and only device to use harmless near-infrared light to detect patient vasculature and then project a real-time, high definition image of the vein pattern directly on the skin surface. Nurses can quickly find more options for accessing a patient's veins. A more thorough assessment with VeinViewer means patients may avoid multiple needle sticks and possible future complications sometimes associated with IV access.

George Pinho, Christie's president, said, "We are really pleased that Baylor Scott White Health chose the Christie VeinViewer imaging system, and the company's training and education. Only VeinViewer can provide pre-, during and post-access benefits throughout the entire vascular access procedure. It is also the only device of its kind that has been shown through clinical studies to increase both first-stick success and patient satisfaction by up to 100 percent while reducing medically unnecessary PICC lines by over 30 percent."

Through the industry-first Christie Assure Program™, Baylor Scott White Health has five-year warranty support and an upgrade program to the latest Christie product platforms. Over 700 Baylor nurses have been trained by Christie clinicians. Clinicians can also take advantage of Christie-provided online education and training.
