Thomas & Betts' Color-Keyed® Battpac® Battery-Powered 6-Ton Crimping Tools Offer Versatility and Efficiency
MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 28, 2006 - Thomas & Betts has enhanced its line with the introduction of Color-Keyed® Battpac® Battery-Powered 6-Ton Crimping Tools, two new battery-powered crimping tools that offer greater versatility and efficiency. Available in standard and self-contained models, the Battery-Powered 6-Ton Crimping Tools accept Color-Keyed CRCTBP1 Smart Batteries. Both tools also feature six tons of nominal output force and 10,000 psi of operating pressure. They crimp connectors ranging from 8 AWG to 600 MCM in copper and 10 AWG to 400 MCM in aluminum, as well as H-taps to 4/0. Both use T&B® Fittings 6-Ton dies and Blackburn® "O" and "D" dies, as well as other manufacturers' crimp dies.
The standard Battery-Powered 6-Ton Crimping Tool (catalog number TBM61520BSCR) features a crimp head that can be interchanged with the Color-Keyed Optional Cutting Head (catalog number 61529CAT), facilitated by quick-release pins that make switching heads fast and easy. The cutting head cuts cable up to 750 kcmil and up to 65 cuts for each battery charge at that size. Other features include rapid advance for quicker compression cycles, an electronic counter that records the number of crimps and cycles completed, a 1.8-inch jaw opening and new, reinforced housing.
The tool and cutting head also are available in one package (catalog number TBM61520BSCRC).
The self-contained Battery-Powered 6-Ton Crimping Tool (catalog number TBMODBSCR) requires no external hydraulic source or crimping device. Its lightweight design combines the easy crimping of an open-yoke tool with the maneuverability of a typical closed-yoke design, reducing stress on the operator when crimping connections. It also features a single groove jaw and uses Blackburn® "D" dies.
