BASF, a leading supplier to the coatings market worldwide, will be at the Middle East Coatings Show at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates, on 12-14 March, 2012. BASF will showcase its coating solutions, including new innovations, for the furniture and flooring, printing and packaging, automotive and transportation, and industrial sectors. The company will also highlight its expertise in formulation additives.

The Middle East Coatings Show is the largest dedicated coatings event in the Middle East and Gulf Region for raw materials suppliers and equipment manufacturers for the coatings industry.

Says Harald Kroll, Managing Director of BASF FZE: "There is continued growth in demand for coatings solutions across market segments in the Middle East and Africa. BASF has a comprehensive range of advanced and innovative solutions that can help meet the needs of customers looking for consistent, reliable, high quality solutions. Our ongoing research and development, aimed at making our customers more successful, along with our focus on sustainability, has resulted in some interesting innovations that we believe will excite our customers."

Innovations and highlights

In the automotive and transportation, and industrial coatings segments, BASF has a comprehensive product offering of pigments, resins and additives. New products on show will include Basonat® LR 9082, a new highly functional polyisocyanate that allows faster handling of the coated substrate; Tinuvin® Carboprotect®, a light stabilizer which was developed to stabilize carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics, making it possible to visibly display the embedded carbon fibers; and new pigments Paliocrom® Brilliant Gold and Lumina® Royal Blue. As a further highlight of its pigment portfolio, BASF will showcase its solar heat management techniques which prevent heat build-up in built structures, and stylings for decorative coatings using effect pigments.

For the furniture and flooring, and printing and packaging industries BASF will show off its complete toolbox of solutions. Among the products it will highlight are three innovations in its range of water-based UV-curable dispersions for wood and plastic coatings, namely Laromer® WA 9057 which provides good chemical resistance and very low yellowing; Laromer® UA 9060 which has excellent scratch and chemical resistance; and Laromer® UA 9064 which provides low yellowing, excellent hardness as well as scratch and chemical resistance. All three products are VOC-free. BASF will also launch its new new silicone-free Efka® 2010 defoamer for solvent-based applications.

The No. 1 pigment supplier for the coatings, plastics and printing industries, BASF will present a consolidated portfolio of pigments, dyes and preparations for printing targeted at the high-quality segments of packaging as well as industrial and digital printing.

BASF has a strong portfolio of formulation additives with a number of innovative solutions in the areas of dispersing agents, defoamers, rheology modifiers and slip & leveling agents. The combined product portfolio of BASF and the recently acquired Cognis will be shown.

Says Kroll: "The coatings market is highly competitive and fast moving. Standards are high and customers expect the best. We strive to deliver value to our clients, using our depth of expertise to tailor-make the solutions our clients need, and deliver new innovations that drive the market forward. We invite organizations in this sector - suppliers and manufacturers -- to come and chat to us. We have lots to show them."
